Workshops and Appointments

Skills for Learning workshops are interactive group sessions that can help you to improve and enhance your skills in academic communication, statistical analysis, IT, information literacy and effective study.

Each workshop develops a specific area of your academic skills through a mixture of activities, peer learning, and expert advice from Academic Skills Tutors and Academic Librarians.

There are three types of workshop. Read the descriptions below to decide which is right for you.

'Assignment Success' Workshops

These interactive sessions support your success in university assignments by providing detailed guidance on a specific area of academic skills. You will have the opportunity to practise the skills in focus and ask any questions.

'Assignment Success' workshops are 60 or 90 minutes long, depending on the topic.

'How to' Workshops

These short, practical sessions can introduce you to a new academic skill or provide a useful refresher.

'How to' workshops are 30 minutes long.

These are online teaching sessions where you participate in Skills for Learning workshops remotely using the Adobe Connect platform. You will have the opportunity to practise the skills in focus and ask our tutors and librarians any questions.

Once registered, you will be sent a link that allows you to join the webinar at a set time. Participation requires a device with internet connection and audio capabilities.

Webinars are 45 minutes long.

When do they run?

Workshops run throughout the academic year at both Headingley and City Campus. See the workshop timetables for more details.
