Poster presentations

Tips for preparing a good poster

  • Put the title of the poster prominently at the top.
  • Make the lettering large enough to be read from 2 metres away.
  • Double-space the text. Diagrams or illustrations should be as large as possible.
  • Organise the information on the poster so that it is self explanatory. Start at the top left hand corner.
  • Label any separate elements of the poster A, B, C, or 1, 2, 3. This will make it easy for a viewer to understand the content.
  • Highlight any names of authors, institutions or affiliations.
  • If you are presenting the poster, or asked by viewers for more information, explain the background first, followed by the results and then the conclusions.
