For Academic Staff

Workshops and tutorials

Skills for Learning workshops cover:

  • Academic communication, including essay writing, plagiarism and critical thinking
  • Maths and statistics
  • IT: Microsoft Office software
  • Information skills

The sessions are taught by our Academic Skills Tutors. Other staff, such as Academic Librarians, also contribute to the programme.

The workshops last for one hour and students will need to book in advance (drop-in sessions are exempt from this).

The timetable runs during term-time at both campuses.

Some workshop topics are recorded and are available from the Workshops / Tutorials page.

Individual or small group tutorials are available to students who need individual help or who are unable to attend any of our timetabled sessions. Students can arrange these by email or by using our online tutorial request form.
